PBBM Awards TUPAD Wages to Beneficiaries in Leyte – 200 beneficiaries of the labor department’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers or TUPAD Program have received their wages in the presence of His Excellency, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. during the convergency activity dubbed as Distribution of Assistance to Various Sectors on 08 November 2022 at the Leyte Academic Center, Palo, Leyte.


Each beneficiary received P5,250.00 as payment for services rendered during their 15-day emergency employment in the different parts of Tacloban City.

President Bongbong Marcos, who was in the region together with DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. and Leyte 1st District Representative and House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez to grace the 9th Commemoration of the Super Typhoon Yolanda, expressed his appreciation to all government agencies for the successful convergence and committed continued interventions from the national government.

“Ang gobyerno po ay nandito para tulungan kayo”, the President underscored in his inspirational message.

Meanwhile, DOLE Regional Office No. 8 OIC-Assistant Director Norman Uyvico, on behalf of Director Henry John Jalbuena, thanked the DOLE-North Leyte Field Office through its head, Engr. Emmanuel de la Cruz for the successful collaboration with the Tingog Partylist through Hon. Yedda Marie Romualdez and Hon. Philip Jude Acidre in extending assistance to the disadvantaged and displaced workers in the region.


Aside from the TUPAD payout, the following assistance were also distributed during the convergence activity: Rice Farmers Financial Assistance from the Department of Agriculture (DA); 20 ambulance vehicles from the Department of Health (DOH); laptop computers from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT); and Financial Assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The convergence activity was likewise graced with the presence of Leyte Governor Jericho “Icot” Petilla, Samar Governor Sharee Ann Tan, Southern Leyte Governor Damian Mercado, Northern Samar Governor Edwin Ongchuan and heads of partner agencies namely, DA Regional Executive Director Angel Enriquez, DOH Director Exuperia Sabalberino and DSWD Director Grace Subong.
